Ganesh Mandals Spread General Awareness about H1N1

While the fever of the Ganesh festival is gradually taking young and the old into its fold, many Ganesh Mandals in the city are doing their best to spread the general awareness regarding the influenza H1N1 popularly known as Swine flu. In the midst of grand celebrations these mandals have not forgotten to take this as an opportunity to spread the awareness regarding the ways to combat the disease and to administer the H1N1 vaccines.

General Awareness about H1N1 by Ganesh Mandals

Mandals are distributing pamphlets giving all the necessary information regarding the disease to the visitors. Huge banners and hoardings explaining the symptoms of the ailment and the precautions to be taken have also been put up at many places in the city.
In a noteworthy attempt to combat the flu, Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Trust has purchased over 5,000 Nascovac Vaccines that are to be administered to students of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) schools.
While talking to the correspondents on Tuesday, Mr. Mahesh Suryawanshi said, "Students of various schools will be vaccinated at the PMC-run Mahatma Phule Prathmik Vidyalaya on September 17, 18 and 20. Eminent doctors from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) have been appointed for the campaign. They are going to administer the vaccine and we are sure this little effort of ours to fight the H1N1 virus will get a good response from the public."
