Vinayaka Chaturthi 2010 Celebration !!!

Lord Ganesh will visit our city very soon. And, the preparations to celebrate His presence are well and truly on. Music adds a special touch to the festival, which is why many composers and singers are busy crafting songs with a contemporary feel that will add a new beat to the celebrations this year.

Tradition and modernity are going hand in hand as new tracks get readied to be enjoyed during the festival. What sort of experiments are musicians making? Composer Kedar Pandit, who has recorded an album on Ganeshji with a song titled Sanskar, says, "I've added more rhythm elements to the song, with guitars and even a brass section. The song talks about the attributes of Ganeshji that children can identify with. It is a great way showcase a new quality while keeping the soul the way it ought to be."

Shekhar Kale, owner of a music recording studio, affirms that such enterprisingly composed tracks are being greeted with positive responses. He explains, "People enjoy playing such kinds of songs during the festive season. They are more peppy and enjoyable. Composers today incorporate sound effects like reverb, echo and deverb, which gives the song a different vibe." He adds that the composers are also using rural elements like the traditional dhol and tasha in their compositions.
