How to Use HDTV as Computer Screen

Just got an HDTV? You must be thinking the same thing I did. "Isn't this just an HD, large version of my flat-screen LCD monitor?"
Yes! However, in order to take part of its full potential you will need a newer PC and/or video card and an DVI-HDMI converter.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:
· Computer with DVI output
· OR Video Card with DVI output
· HDMI cable
· DVI to HDMI adapter
· HDTV
1. Step 1
DVI-HDMI adapter (DVI side)
Once you have aquired all the required components, lets start by plugging in the DVI to HDMI adapter into the PC/Video Card. The provided image will help you identify the adapter.
2. Step 2
Connect the HDMI cable to the adapter and to the input on the HDTV. This will complete the bridge between the computer's video out and the HDTV's input. (Be sure to make note of which input it is plugged into)
3. Step 3
IN WINDOWS XP:

Right-click the desktop and select Properties.
Go to Settings and enable the second monitor by selecting it and then checking Extend my windows desktop to this monitor.
IN WINDOWS VISTA/7:
------------------
Right-click the desktop and click Personalize.
In the bottom left, click Display. Then click Change Display Settings in the middle-left menu. Enable the Second Display by checking Extend my Windows Desktop to this Monitor.
4. Step 4
Now Use your TV's remote to go to the input and the computer's background and mouse will show up. Just move your mouse over to see if it is part of your interactive Desktop. Enjoy.
