Trains for the Metro North through Grand Central Terminal are indefinitely suspended the officials in the hour (1 pm EST). Office of the City Emergency Management believe a transformer caused the fire. While subway service in suburban North Grand Central is suspended, Donovan Aaron, spokesman for the MTA, said that subway service is still active through Grand Central.
NY1 reports "NY1's Education reporter Lindsey Christ, who was in the area as the fire began, said the smoke was so thick she could not see his own head in front of his face. "
